On Monday last our TY Class embarked on a week-long adventure connecting with their local surroundings, developing life skills, and achieving personal goals for themselves.

Day 1 saw them set sail to visit the Irish Naval Headquarters on the Island of Haulbowline and the National Maritime College of Ireland, (NMCI). While on the island they received a tour of the Irish Naval Base from past pupil, Shane and his colleagues, developing their knowledge of our Naval Service and explored the new recreational park, taking in views of Cobh and the lower harbour. They even waved off the LE James Joyce as they set off on their latest sea patrol.

They then connected with Cormac and Greg at the NMCI where they gained an insight into the careers on offer in the Maritime industry. They got to experience the navigation simulator, the training pool, and the fire training elements of the NMCI.

They finally sailed into the sunset returning to Cobh with a wealth of knowledge and lots of career options in the maritime industry.

Many thanks to everyone involved in our trip last Monday. A great day was had by all.
