The U16 Boys Gaelic Football team had their first game of the year at home Vs Coláiste Éamonn Rís, Cork last week.
After a slow start to the match, our lads kickstarted into life courtesy of Billy, with a darting 60 yard solo run, he effortlessly finished into the Éamonn Rís net. A Sean O’ K free followed by a poachers finish from Gearoid O’ D widened the gap on the scoreboard. Alex O’ M with a tally of 2-1 was a constant threat to the Deerpark fullback line all morning.
Inspirational blocks and intercepting tackles from full back Evan W. set the tone for Colaiste Muire’s performance. Evan and Alex’s tenacious work rate at midfield set the foundations for a 4-2 to 0-4 half time score line.
The second half saw a spirited fightback from Éamonn Rís but they were unable to convert this work rate in front of the posts. Brandon finished to the Éamonn Rís net after a wonderful team move.
All panel members saw some game time today. Standout performances today from Alex O’ R, Evan W and Alex O’ M. Well done to all on a great team performance.
