Our U-17s Rugby Squad recently had a 2 match Blitz in Old Christians, winning both games comfortably. Captain Gearoid O’Donnovan set the tempo early in the first game scoring 2 tries within 10 minutes. The defence for both games was again fantastic, huge hits from Sean Brennan, Alex Finnegan, Alex O’Rourke and Shane O’Flaherty keeping the opposition at bay. Brandon Joy pulled the strings at 10, reading the opposition defence well and putting himself and his backline of Ryan Abramson, Alex Finnegan and Gearoid O’Donnovan into space for multiple line breaks. Dara Kelleher was ever vigilant on the wing, tracking every line break and touching down for 3 tries himself.

And lastly to all the players who trained and togged out for Colaiste Muire’s rugby squads this year, It was a fantastic first season for the school and Mr Barry is a very proud coach of the 49 students that were involved in the panel this year. We eagerly look forward to next season and the challenge that awaits.
