Paris Tour 2019

The school tour to Paris took place from October 13th-16th. Students from 4th, 5th and 6th year French were accompanied by French teachers Ms. O’ Callaghan, Ms. King and Ms. Murphy, and History teacher, Tadgh Murphy. We left on Wednesday and returned on Saturday evening. We saw a lot in Paris and packed so much in!! We really had a great time during our stay there.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon and travelled from the airport in coach to our hostel. Our rooms were simple and clean. We went to a nearby Italian restaurant for our dinner and the food was pretty good. Afterwards, we caught the metro to Pont Neuf to go on the bateaux mouches. We had a lovely boat ride on the Seine and saw a lot of amazing monuments and buildings. We took some beautiful photos of the Eiffel Tour which was all lit up. It was raining quite heavily after so we went back on the metro to the hostel. Then it was time for bed!

The next day was really long! We caught the metro to the Arc de Triomphe, then walked down the Champs Elysées. We had some free time so looked in the shops. We then walked in the Tuileries gardens and after a quick lunch we went to the Louvre for a guided visit. It was so impressive! Our guide was funny and informative. Later on we went to Flyview and then had our dinner in a buffet restaurant. Next we headed on the metro to the Trocadero where we had a lovely view of the Eiffel tower, and we had the chance to go up. It was amazing! We returned, exhausted, to the hostel at midnight.

The next day, we got up early to head off to Disneyland! We spent all day there, enjoying the rides and browsing in the shops. The queues were fairly long for some of the attractions which was a pain! We had dinner that evening in Planet Hollywood before heading back in to watch the light show and the fireworks. It was amazing! Then it was back on the metro and back to Paris. Everybody was so tired!

For our last day we got up a little later and most of us headed to the local bakery to grab a pastry and a coffee before we headed off once more to see some famous attractions. We saw Notre Dame, the Hotel de Ville, and the Pompidou centre, and we also visited a cheese exhibition (!). We also saw a group of pickpockets in action and that was a little scary! We then went shopping in a shopping centre for a couple of hours before watching the end of the (disastrous) Ireland rugby match. Then it was back on the coach to take us to the airport.

It was a busy, frantic, but enjoyable few days in one of the most amazing cities in the world!
