Our junior girls football team played their first game of the year recently against Nagle Rice College Carrigaline. Played in glorious sunshine, many of the girls were wearing the Colaiste Muire jersey for the first time.
In a tight first half, Cobh dominated possession but failed to convert the attacks into scores with the crossbar and goalkeeper denying them a number of times. They ended the half two points adrift.
The second half belonged all to Cobh however and the forwards got their reward scoring no less than six goals. The defence and midfield pair worked incredibly hard turning over many attacks. Final score 6-12 to 2-08. This was a fantastic team performance and hopefully it’s the start of a successful year for the team.
Well done to all, especially the first years who are huge additions to the team.
