Dear Parents,

From September 2021, Colaiste Muire will have a DES-approved Special Class.

The sanctioned class is intended to meet the needs of students with complex and severe educational needs arising from their diagnosis of ASD.

The class is reserved for students who have a diagnosis of ASD meeting DSM IV/V or ICD-10 diagnostic criteria.

Students must also have a written recommendation for placement in an ASD special class in a mainstream secondary school setting.

The class is for all students who meet these criteria irrespective of cognitive ability. The maximum enrolment in this class will be 6.

This class is for students of any year group from the ages of 12 to 18.
