Coláiste Muire Cobh is delighted to present Ms. J. Buckley with her Gaisce Civic Merit Award from President Michael D. Higgins. Gaisce’s Civic Merit Award Ceremony honours President’s Award Leaders who have supported young people to take part in the Gaisce programme for more than five years.
Over the last 35 years of the Gaisce Award over a quarter of a million Gaisce Awards have been achieved. Behind these young people are many thousands of President’s Award Leaders or PAL’s that have supported, encouraged and believed in young people and their potential to be the best version of themselves.
Over the past 5 years over 70 students have completed their Gaisce Award in Colaiste Muire Cobh. Ms. Buckley has supported, encouraged, and believed in the young people and their potential to be the best version of themselves. Countless students have benefited from her ‘can do’ attitude and she has been a fantastic mentor to them. The students over the past number of years have achieved Gaisce Awards through the support of their teachers and I wish to thank and congratulate Ms. Buckley for her work with these students. Our Gaisce Team are now working towards this year’s award medallists getting their Bronze Award. We look forward to seeing their success with their PAL’s-Ms. Kiely, Ms. O’ Leary, Mr. K. Barry and Mr. O’ Sullivan
