As part of this year’s SSE and the various surveys which have been completed, it has become clear that the use of phones in and around the classroom is developing into more and more of a distraction for students, while the potential negative impact on social skills and overall mental health has been well documented. The idea is that no phones be used or allowed in first year classes this week.
The primary aim of this is to determine whether;
1) the Teaching and Learning in the classroom, and
2) the overall sense of Wellbeing will improve or not, and whether it is worth considering for incoming first years in August.
