On Monday the 6th of March our TY’s travelled to Delphi Adventure Centre on the  Galway/Mayo border. They took a 6-hour bus ride to the centre and on the first day they dove straight into the activities. The students were divided into 10 groups. Some groups did activities such as archery, abseiling or the arial trek where they were suspended on wires 30 feet off the ground and travelled through an obstacle course, finishing off with a zipline. Others went kayaking and canoeing or what seemed to be an overall favourite: the Bog Challenge, an obstacle course running through thick muck and water. After their first activity students washed off in their cosy dorm rooms and then got delicious food in the Grub Hub. During the evening time there was a campfire where all the students went into the forest and sat around campfires and ate roasted marshmallows. The first day was a huge success and everyone had a blast.

On the second day the students were up bright and early at 7:00am to have breakfast of cereals, sausages and beans, and then went off to another activity. Despite the early start, everyone was very excited and had lots of fun. The clear blue skies showed off the majestic Connemara mountains and the waters of Killary Harbour. After lunch, Ty’s went on other activities including campcraft and climbing/abseiling. At night they went on a forest walk playing music and chatting. It was a brilliant way to end the second day with students enjoying a karaoke, singing, and a little bit of arm wrestling. Everyone was calm and exhausted going to bed.

On the third and final day at Delphi the students packed their bags before breakfast and got ready to leave this idyllic location. They then went on their last activity of the trip, with very cold temperatures. They escaped before the snow fell, and with happy memories to last a lifetime. A big thanks to all the teachers who accompanied us, Ms Buckley, Mr Long, Ms O Neill, Ms Dooley, our TY Coordinator, Ms Ormond and Principal, Mr O’Brien.
