During the month of November, a very special project was carried out by Cobh Parish, Cobh Community Hospital and 5th Year students from Coláiste Muire. They have put together ‘End of Life Boxes’ for the Hospital to use with the residents and their families.

‘End of Life’ is the term given to the last stage of a person’s life when they are dying. As Cobh Hospital is such an invaluable, community based local facility, many families are lucky enough to spend time with a loved one in before they pass away.

The boxes were created in an effort to support residents/patients and their families when they are on their final journey.

The boxes are filled with prayers, holy water, pictures of Cobh, words of comfort, candles, rosary beads and other items that will be useful at this time to support families at such a poignant moment.

We hope these boxes filled with compassion and kindness will be appreciated by those who need the use of these boxes in Cobh Hospital.
