Dear Parent / Guardian,

As I’m sure you can understand, we at Colaiste Muire are currently trying to ensure that all students have access to their school Office 365 accounts with as much ease as possible. Access to Office365 is not only important for day to day in-school activities, but is also necessary in order to prepare for future possible periods of blended learning.

In particular for the parents of 1st Year students, we would like to draw your attention to the “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)” policy in your child’s school journal. Our experience with students is that they prefer and are more comfortable accessing their account using their own devices which they are familiar with. This is also eliminating the touching of shared surfaces which should be minimised during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to facilitate this, students will be encouraged to bring in their own device to school and use it for accessing their Office365 online accounts both in school and out of school. This will be in strict accordance with the BYOD policy which we would ask you to read carefully.

Types of devices are specified in the policy, but for the majority of students a smartphone is perfectly adequate. If there are serious concerns surrounding the use of your child’s device to access Office365, please contact ictcommittee@colaistemuire.com

Kind regards,

ICT Committee
